1. Saint Anne Church
St. Anne Church was built as a small chapel on a small hill in 1846 by a French priest Adolphe Couellan and open since 1888. There are Chinese characters still visible as the early congregation were mainly Chinese Catholics of Bukit Mertajam.
This church is 5 minutes by foot from Vince Villa.
2. Frog Hill or Guar Petai
This abandoned quarry in Kampung Guar Petai has very quickly become a popular destination for its breath taking view. This paradise is also known as the “Jiuzaigou of Malaysia”. Visitors will have to climb a small hill (5-10 minutes) to get a magnificent view from the top. This hidden gem at North Seberang Perai is a must-visit.
3. Bukit Mertajam Recreational Forest
This recreational forest is also known as Cherok Tokun Nature Park. The park sprawls over 37 hectares of verdant, hilly terrain with its highest point being 457 meters. The park is ideal for health-conscious locals as its green environment are perfect for outdoor activities like hiking and jogging as well as hiking trails that leads straight to its peak.
4. Tow Boo Kong Temple
This Taoist temple located along Jalan Raja Uda is dedicated to the Nine Emperor Gods. Ornate and intricate designs on its exterior make it a memorable building. Murals, stuccos and sculptures of dragons, lions and mythycal figures adorn ceilings, walls, roof and pillars made it one of the most beautiful temple in Malaysia. Recommended to visit at night as you will see the lights that shines the architecture.
